And what we are not
The fastest way to be useful is to send the wrong buyer somewhere better on the first visit. Four things we do not do.
- We do not rent containers. Steel Box Direct does not rent shipping containers. It sells them, and it offers rent-to-own, where a fixed term of payments ends with ownership. If renting is what you need, our container rental guide names companies that do rent.
- We do not sell new or one-trip units today. Current inventory is used Wind & Water Tight only.
- We do not sell refrigerated, insulated, or modified containers. No reefer units, no climate-controlled storage, no custom builds.
- We are not a walk-up yard. There is no lot to visit and no showroom. Containers go to your site, or you arrange self-pickup at a partner depot.
One condition grade, three sizes
Used shipping containers in one condition grade: Wind & Water Tight (WWT). WWT containers are structurally sound, keep wind and water out, and are ready for storage use. They are sold as-is with visible cosmetic wear and are not certified for ocean shipping.
One grade instead of a grade menu is a deliberate choice. A ladder of five overlapping grades mostly moves the argument from what a container does to what a dealer calls it, and for storage the seal is the entire job. What the grade means in practice, wear and all, is spelled out in the condition guide.
Three sizes: 20ft standard (20' x 8' x 8'6", about 160 sq ft), 40ft standard (about 320 sq ft), and 40ft high cube (9'6" tall for extra headroom). If you are not sure which one fits, the size calculator works it out from what you are actually storing.

Three things worth knowing before you ask for a quote
These are the parts of the process buyers ask about most. Better to read them here than discover them later.
About two weeks, driver-dependent
Almost all deliveries take about two weeks, and buyers get an honest window before committing. Scheduling depends on independent drivers and can shift; that is true of container delivery generally, and Steel Box Direct does not control it. The full picture is in the delivery guide.
Quote-based, not instant
Pricing is quote-based rather than instant. Published figures are averages, and the exact number requires requesting a quote. Delivery distance is most of what moves the number, which is why the cost guide explains the inputs instead of promising one figure.
Approval belongs to a third party
Rent-to-own approval is not guaranteed. An independent third party reviews every application and makes the decision. There is no traditional credit check, and the terms are laid out on the rent-to-own page.
